Located in Tampa, the Tampa Bay Regional Surface Water Treatment Plant is designed to provide an average of up to 90 million gallons per day (mgd) and a maximum of 120 mgd of high-quality drinking water to the region from the Alafia River, Hillsborough River and the Tampa Bypass Canal.
This project replaces the existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system hardware and software at the Regional Surface Water Treatment Plant. The SCADA upgrade will replace programmable logic controllers throughout the facility and replace and upgrade the SCADA servers, as well as other equipment and instrumentation. The project will also update the computer interface to the latest version.
The new SCADA hardware, software, instrumentation and controls will enhance monitoring, control and operational performance. It will also increase system reliability, improve cybersecurity and improve integration with other systems.
The budget for this project is $20.4 million for design and construction.
Construction will begin in mid-2026 and is scheduled to be completed in summer 2028.
This project has no public impact as all work is contained within Tampa Bay Water property.
